It’s nearly time for the 26th Cheshire Jets Basketball Summer camp which tips off at Whitby High School, Ellesmere Port on the 22nd of July to the 27thof July. We are expecting nearly two hundred players from the UK and across Europe to take part in what is one of the largest and most established camps in the UK.
Campers aged between six and twenty one will receive a week’s worth of coaching from some of the best coaches in the country, including Jets Head Coach John Lavery and a number of professional Jets players. As always the winner of the MVP award will win an all expenses paid trip to a 5 Star Camp in Pittsburgh USA, where the likes of Michael Jordan, LeBron James and many other NBA stars honed their talents.
Every year The Cheshire Jets set out to give every camper the best experience possible, and by sticking to the camp values, we aim to deliver a fully rewarding week of activities. Campers return year after year to improve their skills, meet up with old friends and to make new ones.
“It’s really good because there are so many professional coaches and players, if you want to improve on something, you’ll always get a chance for some one-to-one coaching.”
(Sam Corker – Birmingham)
“The coaches work you hard, but that’s not a bad thing – they want to help you play and give you more confidence as a player, and that’s why I return year after year!”
(Carl Hetherington – Flint)
“This is my fourth camp and every year I’m improving, the camp improves, and it’s great to see people from past years and catch up.”
(Sheena Farrington – London)
Leon Henry won last year’s MVP prize;
“Camps like the Cheshire Jets Summer Camp are just what basketball in Britain needs. This is a great organisation; great people are involved, a real high quality coaching staff getting kids to play. Winning this prize is the best thing that has ever happened to me during my basketball career. I’ve been coming to the camp for the past four years and it just proves that working hard pays off. I’d advise anyone coming this year’s camp to believe they can win and reach to achieve it.”
Jets Head Coach John Lavery;
“I always look forward to this summer camp; the standard of players we get on it is really high. I believe these guys have the athletic attributes necessary and if they work on developing their skills then we could have some future stars on our hands.”
