Incumbent sponsor of the Cheshire Jets, BiG Storage, have just signed a major four year deal to continue their sponsorship of the BiG Storage Cheshire Jets with a massive financial investment in the region of £250,000.
BiG Storage CheshireJets’ future was resurrected last year when BiG Storage stepped in initially with a one year sponsorship deal. The new agreement for the Jets’ longer term future will now ensure that they are financially able to establish and maintain their significant progress amongst the elite of the British Basketball fraternity.
The security will allow the stability of longer term contracts which allow the playing staff to continue to combine their playing performance with their role in the community where they will be launching new healthy lifestyle programmes whilst continuing those that are already underway.
To date the BiG Storage Cheshire Jets have led the way in delivering Hoops4Health to all the primary schools in the Chester area – a scheme which will embrace 70 Cheshire schools, totaling 5,500 children by the end of this school year. This figure will double next year, with a plan to have delivered to all 330 primary schools in Cheshire by 2012.
The community programme will also be rolled out to secondary schools where the emphasis will move on from ‘healthy lifestyle’ to the importance of ‘citizenship and respect’ using the professional basketball players as natural role models for teenagers.
Along side this, the plans are to initially set up 3 youth basketball clubs in Chester for those young people who are enthused about basketball and wish to play competitively at regional and national level.
