1st BiG Storage Cheshire Jets Hoops For Health Finals

Recently a number of schools from the Chester Area took part in a tournament organised by the Big Storage Cheshire Jets as part of the Hoops 4 Health Program.
The H4H Programme is designed to promote to school children healthy living and aims to make the kids more active. This is all a part of the wider Jets in the Community programme led by Jets own guard and Sports Community officer Richard Murphy.

Children from Oldfield, Waverton, Cherry Grove, Huntington, Guilden Sutton, Saighton and Christleton all took part in the first ‘mini-league’ event at Christleton High School where many of the kids honed their basketball skills aided and abetted by Murph and Gianni Costantiello.
The League stage saw each school tally up wins but non bigger than tournament 'minnows' Guilden Sutton win against pre tournament favourites Cherry Grove. Saighton also took the competition by surprise. The smallest school in the tournament notching up wins in all but 1 of the league games.

The tournament was decided by play-off’s between the top 4 teams to find the overall winners. The top four teams were Saighton, Cherry Grove, Oldfield and Christleton.
The final game between Oldfield & Christleton was a fitting finale for any tournament, with regulation not finding a winner. over time was played. This still could not separate the 2 so a shoot out was played. This saw Oldfield
become victorious in the first regional Hoops 4 Health tournament.

Oldfield have been joined by Overleigh St Mary’s Primary School, St Werbergh’s Primary in the first ever BiG Storage Cheshire Jets Hoops 4 Health Finals!
Congratulations and Good Luck!
