| Recently, the Big Storage Cheshire Jets Hoops 4 Health programme has started, marking the start of a new era for the club as a whole. The ambitious jump from being just professional team to community club was a step into the unknown for all involved. There should have been no worries!. With Community Sports Development Officer Richard Murphy and all the players involved , they started their ‘healthy’ journey in Caernarfon. It was here that they ran a pilot session in a large Welsh-speaking primary school. This experience was deemed a success not only by the teachers and pupils involved but by the organisation and players who thoroughly enjoyed the “Hoops 4 Health Road Show” once they had overcome the whole Welsh language barrier!
In the last week, the Hoops 4 Health road show has gone into 7 primary schools in the Chester area. Guilden Sutton, Dee Point, The Arches, Christleton, Waverton, JH Goodwin and Woodfield. At these schools all children involved gave 100% in effort and in attitude and underlined the purpose of the whole scheme. Although Richard and the team felt that everyone had given of their best, there were ,however, a few pupils at each school who were even more outstanding in the view of the players and the teachers. They were Faye-Marie Herbert, Connor Williams, Jemma Mason, Rebecca Bower, Dominic Harper, Dalton Asbury and finally Dilwar Hussain. All these children will be rewarded for their effort and will receive a Big Storage Cheshire Jets uniform to wear at up and coming games.
