Murph Tips Off Community Programme

The community programme – bringing basketball skills, teamwork and enjoyment in sport to school children throughout Chester and Cheshire got underway last week when Sports Development Officer and BiG Storage Cheshire Jets playerRichard Murphy went in to Hoole C of E Primary School to spread the message.

The scheme – one of the major reasons why Chester-based BiG Storage supremo Andrew Donaldson agreed to sponsor the basketball club this season – aims to involve at least three thousand young people in the areas of basketball coaching, multi skills training and healthy lifestyle advice.

Judith Sharman, headteacher of the Chester school was enthusiastic. “All the children involved seemed to have a thoroughly good time and they have been talking about it ever since! It is really positive that the basketball Club are taking a real interest in the community and it’s a real win-win situation. The children gain a real benefit in terms of the content and approach of the sessions, while the Jets are building a real fan base in the younger end of the community. Everyone at Hoole is thoroughly looking forward to the next visit!”
