BiG Storage Cheshire Jets Sign Jayson Obazuaye

BiG Storage Cheshire Jets Player Coach T.J. Walker has   made his first  move in the construction of his new look side for the  2007/8 BBL season by  signing  23 year old Nigerian international guard Jayson Obazuaye.

Jayson who stands 6’3” and weighs in at 206 pounds, graduated in 2006 from the University of Colorado and will be making his BBL debut when the season begins in late September.

TJ describes Jayson as “an aggressive and athletic player both offensively and defensively, who is likely to pose problems to the opposition throughout the BBL”.   He also added, “Jayson reminds me very much of myself when I started out, both in attitude and commitment – I can see him fitting in very well with the style of play I have in mind for the Jets, and I know he has the talent and the application to make a real impact in the league.”

Paul Smith, BiG Storage Cheshire Jets Director of Basketball is in no doubt about the quality of the Jets’ new recruit: he observed “Jayson looks to be a really great first signing.   If he’s half the player TJ was when he first came to the league we’re in for a treat’. I know that TJ has spent a lot of time evaluating Jayson and he is confident he will be an asset both to the team and as an important part of BiG Storage Cheshire Jets community programme”.

‘TJ is very keen to bring players in that he can develop into stars within the BBL and from what I’ve seen and heard about Jayson,  the combination of him and TJ in the back court will be a real force to be reckoned with next season.’

The first opportunity for all BiG Storage Cheshire Jets’ fans to see that combination in real earnest   is on 23 rd September   when the Jets opening home BBL game takes place against arch rivals Sheffield.   Advanced tickets will be going on sale shortly for what is confidently expected to be a sell out.

Further announcements are expected imminently about who will fill the remaining positions in the squad.
